When a task is not completed by its due date, ITMKit automatically handles it so nothing falls through the cracks. This guide explains how carry-over works and what the Pending view shows.
Automatic Carry-Over
Every time the Daily Tasks page is loaded, ITMKit checks for tasks that:
- Have a due date before today, and
- Are not Done
These tasks are automatically moved to today’s date so they appear in the Today view. No manual action is needed.
The task keeps all its original details — title, assigned person, type, notes. Only the due date updates to today, and the carry-over count increases by 1.

Priority Escalation
If a task is carried over twice or more without being completed, its priority is automatically raised one level:
| Carry-over count | Priority change |
|---|---|
| 1st carry-over | No change |
| 2nd carry-over | Low → Medium · Medium → High · High → Urgent |
| 3rd+ carry-over | Already at Urgent — no further change |
This ensures long-ignored tasks become visible and treated with urgency.
The Pending View
The Pending tab shows all tasks due today that have been carried over at least once and are not yet Done.
Use this view to:
- See which tasks have been rolling over without progress
- Identify staff who may need help or reassignment
- Quickly spot tasks with high carry-over counts

Manual Carry-Over
You can also manually push a task to tomorrow if you know it cannot be done today:
- Open the task detail panel.
- Click Carry Over.
- The due date moves to tomorrow (not today).
- The carry-over count increases by 1.
Manual carry-over always goes to tomorrow.
Automatic carry-over always lands on today.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will a task disappear if it is not done for several days?
No. ITMKit carries it forward every day until it is marked Done or deleted. The carry-over count keeps a record of how long it has been pending.
Can I see the original due date of a carried-over task?
Yes — open the task detail panel and check the History section. The original creation date and each carry-over event are logged.
Can I turn off automatic carry-over?
No — automatic carry-over is a core system behavior and cannot be disabled. It ensures no task is ever silently dropped.
